This is the exhibition stand we created for Auping, the Dutch market leader in beds and mattresses at IMM in Cologne. Auping wanted to share an important message: to drastically reduce the pollution from mattresses worldwide. To visualize this problem for visitors, we divided the exhibition stand into two areas: the blue and the white area. On the blue side, Auping illustrated how many mattresses end up in landfill worldwide. The white side shows Auping's solution to this problem.
Naturally, our job was to minimize the footprint of the exhibition stand itself. We found a solution to reuse all the stand's canvases by creating beautiful bags after the show. Furthermore, we used furniture made out of recycled plastic bottles and we chose for a wooden, reusable floor. Besides this, Auping served delicious vegetarian food during the show.
The story of Auping goes back 130 years, when Johannes Auping developed the famous mesh base in his workshop in Deventer. Over time, he started to produce mattresses and box springs, followed by bed textiles, cupboards and accessories. Today, Royal Auping is the largest independent bed producer in the Netherlands.
