We make sustainable trade shows measurable

As stand builder, we work with many materials. We know: not everything is equally sustainable. Take the commonly used vinyl for example, it’s easy to replace with cork. All it takes is some research and the guts to change. And when you dare to choose different, all materials used in the stand are explained in a material passport. This way we make your sustainable choice measurable and together we take steps towards more sustainable trade shows.

Sustainability at KOP

We know: we’re not working in the world’s most sustainable industry. But we can do our best to operate as consciously and sustainably as possible. We do this within our own work process, but also by advising our customers how to choose a more sustainable exhibition stand. This is how:

Reuse materials

Reuse materials

An example of sustainable material use are our jeans panels. Creative and usable in various ways. We use them as; acoustic damping, wall covering and for decoration.

Sustainable use of wood

We regularly use OSB, poplar wood and bamboo. They all comply with international quality marks, which are supported by governments, companies, and environmental organizations. Working this way, we work with wood that tells a positive story.

New home for plants

Plants regularly return after an exhibition. Most companies throw them away. We always look for a new home for them. For example, by taking them to a nursing home. This way, we can make people happy with some greenery in their homes.

KOP Recycle Airtex bag

Second life for used airtex

We use Airtex prints in our stands. Each print is specifically made for the event, and most of them are not recycled or re-used afterwards. What a waste! That's why we offer the possibility to turn the prints into bags after the exhibition. Nice to hand out after the event to colleagues, trade show visitors or customers.

sustainable floor covering

Future proof floor covering

We’re happy that there are increasingly more alternatives to PVC, which used to be the most popular floor covering. One of them is cork. Cork is extracted from the bark of cork oaks without damaging the tree. This makes it 100% natural and biodegradable.

Sustainable wall finish

Alternative printable wall finish

A sustainable alternative to printable wall finishes? A material that’s produced from 100% recycled polyester. It’s PVC free and 100% recyclable. Another benefit is that it’s really strong. So twice as sustainable. This way it can be used for more than one exhibition.

KOPexpo

Driven by electricity

Online meetings are great! Nevertheless, our account and project managers are spending quite some time on the road. The good thing is: they are driving our electric KOP cars. That’s how we decrease our footprint as much as possible. Are two customers exhibiting at the same show? We puzzle until everything fits in the truck.

Electric KOPcar

Stack up our roof with 240 solar panels

In the spring of 2023, we decided to stack up our roof with 240 solar panels. A lot of work, but it also yields a lot. 88,633 kWh per year!

With that much energy you can easily drive 14 laps around the earth with one of our electric cars. By installing these solar panels, we can work even more sustainable. This way we’re taking another step towards a more sustainable world.

Taking personal responsibility: This is how we do it

Consciously dealing with the environment starts with yourself. At KOP, we prioritize sustainability in our work environment. We do this, for example, by storing materials after an exhibition. Instead of throwing it away, we re-use. By doing so, we make sure that walls, floors, cupboards and tables are never used only once. In addition, we save useful waste which is collected by a workshop runned by people with disabilities, who are creating the most beautiful works of art from it.

To see jeans back in the stand is very cool.” The sustainable solutions ensured that Nedap went home with a nomination for best stand design at Euroshop 2023."
